A recipe to prepare Qatayef in a healthy way
Qatayef is one of Ramadan's oriental sweets, you know how to prepare it at home.
Ingredients for preparing Qatayef
- 1/2 cup water.
- 1/2 cup sugar.
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice.
- 1/2 teaspoon orange blossom water.
The dough
- 1 and 1/4 cup warm water.
- 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar.
- 1 cup flour or a little less.
- 1/8 cup fine semolina.
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
- 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- Vegetable oil.
The filling
- 75 grams of mozzarella cheese after soaking it in water, or any other unsalted white cheese.
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts.
- 35 gm chopped almonds
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Steps to prepare Qatayef
Diameter
- Add sugar to the water and stir it on the stove until it dissolves.
- Add lemon juice, and stirring at intervals over medium heat for 12-15 minutes.
- Extinguish the fire, then add a teaspoon of blossom water, then let it cool down.
The dough
- Dissolve sugar and yeast in water.
- Add semolina, flour, salt, and baking powder, and blend it.
- Cover the dough with wrapping paper, in a dry and warm place for 30-60 minutes.
The filling
Chop the cheese, and add cinnamon and sugar to the nuts.
Frying
- Turning the dough with the dough hook.
- Heat half a teaspoon of oil in a nonstick frying pan.
- Pour half a cup in it.
- Do not stir, and cook over medium heat until bubbles appear.
- Repeat for the rest of the amount, and add oil as needed.
Qatayef
- Put a spoonful of the filling in the middle.
- Fold the pie, then join the edges, until completely closed.
- Repeat this to prepare the rest of the pies.
The qatayef can be baked at 180 ° C for 10-15 minutes, after being filled.
